The Friends of St John Vianney is an association set-up by Parents in partnership with the school. We aim to promote friendship between parents of children at the school, to raise money to benefit the school, and to put on social events for our children and for parents.
What kind of events do you do?
We have a series of events that we organise throughout the school year, from Coffee mornings for new parents at the Nursery and Reception, to the Infant and Junior disco.
There’s also the Valentine and Christmas cake sales, the Summer Fair (which we do every 2 years), and anything else we can think of that we’d all enjoy!
Who can join the Friends?
Anyone can be a member of the Friends, providing they have a child at the school. There are no other requirements really, just a desire to get involved.
If I join, do I have to go to boring meetings?
This is sort of yes and no, and it’s really up to you what you can and can’t commit to. The Friends has a committee that includes a representative or two from each class.
The committee meets twice a term, at 9:00 on Friday at the School. These meetings are an important part of the business of the association, and we use them to plan events, and to decide where the money raised is spent.
I’d like to help, but I can’t do the meetings, is that ok?
That’s perfectly fine. All of the events require a host of volunteers, to do everything from baking cakes, running stalls, supervising, helping us to set-up and pack-up after. Any help that you can give would be welcomed with open arms.
If you would like to help us, please go to the Facebook page and sign-up to the email list. We post regular updates and requests for help, we’d love it if you could help too.
